In 60’ Nishio Sensei was already teaching in the same Hombu. This was a great time to find friends for life like Koichi Tohei, Kenji Tomiki, Morihiro Saito, Kisaburo Osawa, Hiroshi Tada and many others. He was doing Judo in the Kyuzo Mifune’s school before he joined the Hombu Dojo in 1951. Iai Battoh-Ho retains the names and basic outline of all the Musô Shinden-ryû forms, while modifying the emphasis and various technical details. Musô Shinden-ryû is itself a derivative of some older ryu its founder contributed to the contemporary All-Japan curriculum. Shoji Nishio was born in the Aomori Prefecture in 1927. With his permission, Chiba Sensei established Iai Battoh-Ho as a new ryu, in order to pursue more explicitly the connection between Iaido and Chiba Sensei's Aikido, and in order to distinguish our way from the modern, competitive approach. Born in 1950 on the island of Kyushu, Japan. ABOUT OUR SWORD MASTER Matsushita Sensei. Alongside the purely physical and technical aspects, the art develops focused yet relaxed concentration, as we move from stillness to action and back to stillness, in the presence of a live blade. We also practice partner forms (kumi-dachi) with bokken.
